    First couple of pots of water flowed correctly.  now our Bunn VPR-VPS is leaking water over the top of the fill basin, and very little water going to the spray head.

    it is brewing correctly when the machine is unplugged and cold

    When is the last time you ran the delime spring up through the sprayhead tube?  That should be done often.

    it’s a new unit out of the box, and when the unit has been unplugged and is cold, everything flows good.
    after it warmed up is when this started happening, and it seems to produce a lot more steam than any Bunn i’ve ever seen

    Based upon your description, sounds like the thermostat isn’t opening to stop the heating cycle.  Beings that it’s brand new, it can be serviced under warranty.
