I HATE it when that happens.

Model #? Chances are that, of the hundreds they made, yours will be one of them.

These chew-able cubetts that Follet makes are sensitive to good water and maintenance.  Not knowing how old the machine is,  or how many times the gear motor has failed makes it difficult to narrow down your problem.  When one does a gear motor on a Follet,  they should be taking the whole unit apart for inspection and seal replacement.  This machine is a extrusion machine and therefore has to have a clean transport tube and proper working shuttle and sensor.  Also if someone used bleach for the sensitization. it reacts with the metals and destroys the machine long term.

Gearbox overload can come from auger problems.  Both wear and bearings.  Or evaporator wear. Or transport tube/connection or kink.

It can also fail from water ingress.

Or lack of lubrication.  Or wrong lubrication.  Always check the amp load on the gear motor when running and stable. It should be less than 2.8 amps on 208 volts.

If the evaporator inside has any wear or loss of finish,  this may become a expensive service.  Over $13,000 with both bearing housings, evaporator, auger, and gearmotor.  And that’s without labor.   Often a replacement unit is the better decision.
