scotsman 506w -1a will not fill with water or turn on compressor to make ice however compressor does come on when you select harvest lites up freeze flashes but no 24vac to the compressor or water fill valve ? a bad controler perhaps from 1995 The hot gas valve comes on for a few seconds and turns back off but the freeze cycles never starts no 24 v to either the fill or compressor contactors if you manualy hold the compresssor contactor in it makes ice !

So this also sounds like a bad thickness probe as it seems like it trying to harvest over and over. What you can do is check the lights on the controller and see the corresponding issue in this manual: http://download.partstown.com/is-bin/intershop.static/WFS/Reedy-PartsTown-Site/-/en_US/manuals/SC-CME256_sm.pdf . Everything you describe in the cycle seems to be a sensor issue but the lights on the controller will help you diagnose this issue further. I hope this helps.
