Yes, but more likely the machine is not level.  The bin switch is a reed switch that is operated by a magnet in the splash cover over the evaporator on the right side.  It has two functions, one is to tell the machine that harvest is complete and to go back into ice making.  If held open for more than 7 seconds it tells the machine it is full and to shut down. As soon as the cover closes again it will restart.  Ice bridge thickness has to be 1/8 inch for the harvest to work properly. This means that the machine has to be clean and the thickness gauge set right.

 

Do you have a full sheet dropping in that first harvest?

 

Is the machine level front to back?

 

Is the spray cover fully closing and swinging freely?

 

Which control board do you have, 2 led or 3 led.

 

The bin light should be lit when the curtain is closed. Check to see if the magnet is still in the curtain. and lines up with the reed switch.  You can proof the switch with a small magnet.
