If the Luminice device is blinking red, that means “service is required.” But what does that mean? What kind of service? Check the fan? The bulb? The control board. A stead red means change the bulb. But what does “service required” mean?

Do you have a Luminice or a Luminice II.  They use different bulbs and if the wrong one it will flash red.  If the bulb is not correctly seated in the unit it will flash red.  The other problem may be air flow through the light unit.  No air flow, no sensitization..  Confirm that you have the proper Manitowoc bulb and that it is in correctly.

INDICATOR LIGHT IS SOLID BLUE If Indicator light is blue, the LuminIce ® II is functioning correctly. INDICATOR LIGHT IS SOLID RED If Indicator light is red, it is time to replace the bulb INDICATOR LIGHT IS BLINKING EITHER BLUE OR RED When the bulb is BLINKING either Red or Blue, replace the ENTIRE LuminIce® II Device with part number 000013162

 

There is a service bulletin out on this if you machine serial number is between the following. 

NOTE: LuminIce® II installed in Ice machines with serial numbers from 1101386696 through 1120146582 may potentially have an operational issue. If the current LuminIce II device is displaying a flashing red or flashing blue indicator light a new LuminIce II device should be installed in its place. Follow the check procedure for all ice machines with LuminIce® II that fall within the serial number range. Ice machines with LuminIce® II operational issues will need to be cleaned and sanitized after part replacement and before placing the ice machine back into operation.
