  • Best Coffee Maker Machine for Home Use – Expert Advice to Choose

Over the last few days, I have done some research on the most appropriate coffee machine since I wish to make café-quality coffee in my house. From the reviews published by New York Times, Consumer Reports, and Popular Mechanics, I have narrowed down to these two:

    Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine

Ninja Luxe Café Premier 3-in-1 Espresso Machine

But I am unable to make my decision, and hence, I need your professional advice.

In my house, I usually consume 2-3 cups of coffee on a daily basis, sometimes espresso and sometimes regular coffee. I am also looking for something that is easy to use and clean; however, quality should not be compromised in any case.

Can you please suggest me which one I should purchase?

Oh boy. Here we go down the rabbit hole. I’ve had a expresso machine at home for 40 years and am on my 5 th machine. Be aware that you need a quality grinder to make consistent coffee. Also there is no machine that will make drip and expresso based drinks. It requires 2. Or a controlled water pot and a pour over filter. That also requires a bit of knowledge to make right. If you go to the home barista site and look around a bit. I think you’ll find it worth your time. You’ll eventually wind up there to solve taste problems anyway.

I presently use a DF83 grinder and a LA Marzocco Micra for expresso. I also have a Zurno Z1 for pour over and a Luna scale.. The scale is super important for both methods. I used a E-61 style Expobar for 18 years. Almost never shut off over the whole time.

Water is another critical part of the process. Different parts of the country have different hardness. Boilers need soft water to survive any period of time. My machine is plumbed in on RO and I’ve never had to acid clean the boilers. La Marzocco ships test strips with the machine.

Be aware that the Breville has a odd dimension basket and portafilter. Hard to find precision baskets for it. And they do effect flavor. Lance Hedrich has a lot of you-tube videos on everything involving coffee.

The order of importance for expresso is 1; Water, 2; grinder, 3:machine control/accuracy, 4: coffee., Dialing in a coffee/grinder and temp takes a bit of time and trial and error. But the end results can be very rewarding.

I forgot to ask you what part of the country your in. There are coffee equipment shops like Whole latte love, Seattle coffee gear, Chris coffee that will show you machines and teach you to brew. They have demo areas. If you can get to one of them for a day, I think you’ll find it worth it. And you’ll likely save a lot of heartache.
