  • Bizerba SE12 – Buzzing when flat, Silent when vertical

Looking for feedback from any techs familiar with Bizerba SE12 slicers. I’m chasing a mechanical grinding/buzzing noise that is dependent on machine orientation.

Link to video with audio of the noise below:

    The Symptom:

Sitting Flat: The slicer makes a distinct mechanical grinding/buzzing noise.

Tilted Vertically: If I tilt the machine 90° vertically while it’s running, the noise completely disappears and it runs quiet.

Speed/Power: Blade speed is normal (~300 RPM / ~50 revs in 10 sec). Motor isn’t dragging, and power delivery is good.

    Diagnostics & Specs Completed:

Capacitor: Tested good (20.22mF on a 20mF spec)

Windings: Healthy (15ohm start, 2.7ohm run, no shorts to ground)

Power Supply: 124V AC measured after relay

    The Question:

Given that gravity completely clears the noise when tilted, is this more likely internal motor rotor endplay (collapsed wave washer / thrust bearing shift) or blade arbor shaft bearing wear under load?

Any insights before I pull the drive belt or tear into the arbor assembly would be greatly appreciated!
