The power supply in this 2052e (1.5 Gallon output) burned up. I replaced it because very often, the control board would start tripping out and would flash random errors, or get stuck in a cycle of somehow resetting itself, or would brew only a couple of batches, and would heat for 30-45 minutes, even if water reached to set point. (210F, only about 600ft elevation). It would eventually start simply never turn on intermittently.

With the new one in, I am getting about 15-16 batches per hour, instead of about 8, with no errors. But now the new board is getting toasty in the same spot, with the resistor next to the yellow capacitor starting to burn up. And visually I can tell that the path goes straight into the capacitor, so I’m assuming that once the resistor goes, so does the cap and the reliability of it. So currently I am trying not to use it until I figure out why it is happening. From the lugs to the connector plugging right into power supply, it is getting a nice even 120v. With the two main connectors, I made sure there were no shorts between wires, and every single contact on both boards are clean and has no signs of burning.

I don’t know if this would be something to note, but this machine is modified. This model can come with 2 or 3 heaters, and them being all 3kW or 5kW. My machine was 3 x 5kW, used at a location with 3 phase power. Presumably, the middle and left heater failed, so it was sold to a generalist equipment refurbishing company, who reconfigured it to be used with single phase 240v. In our situation, we only had a 30 amp plug. So the tech’s solution was to put an old, used 3kW heater in the left side, and leave the dead middle one, since with single phase, that one is never used anyway. But with 5kW and the somewhat used up 3kW, it would draw a consistent 28.5-29.7 amps total.

If someone who actually knows their stuff could chime in, that would be helpful. I also can’t find a wiring schematic on the fetco website, and I haven’t got lucky with random PDFs popping up in search results.
