This is a new install. It heats fine for a while, then the red light comes on, requiring me to turn switch OFF, then back ON to work at correct temp (185 deg) for another hour or so.

The voltage is correct, supply water temp is 145, factory supplied regulator and pressure relief installed. the water is softened and within parameters.

185 sounds a little high. What are the code requirements where you are? In my experience, tweaking down the thermostat in small steps usually solves it. Otherwise you may have a bad high limit.

They are made to operate at190F. Most high temp machines require a min of 180 in my state.

First question I have is what is the incoming water temp and pressure?

Second, what is the outlet temp and pressure?

    Is this a new machine?

Things that come to mind on this is the water probe sensing. Remove and clean the probe. Check the ground circuit for the water sensing and the wire to the sensor. More than likely the ground wire connection is loose and when the boiler heats up it opens. Thereby tripping the alarm.
