I am trying to find a Hobart C line service manual. I found one on ebay, guy wants
$39.00 for a soft copy version. Has perfect reviews so seems legit.

However mine is gas and it appears that his manual is for electric. The question I have is the major differences between a gas dishwasher and electric.

Seems that the components to heat the dishwasher would be different but the components of the dishwasher to perform its task would be the same.

Any light anyone could shed would be great, that or a C line Hobart service manual too.

    I responded to your message.

Yes, the machine’s “call for heat” would be nearly the same – be it electric, gas or steam heated.

BUT, the dishwasher’s systems for delivering the heat all dramatically vary after that call for heat:

Heating elements, contactors for those and high-limit thermostat for electric heat. Heat exchangers, steam solenoid valves and steam traps for steam heat. Heat exchangers, the burners, ignition module, gas valve, ignitor/flame proof and high-limit thermostat for gas heat.

That “electrically heated machine” service manual wouldn’t help you much after you’ve enter into the realms of how it’s otherwise heated.

In YOUR case, a gas control circuit.

You’d need to have some solid understanding of that system to troubleshoot it in the first place as some gas control systems can seem complicated & intimidating for a novice/beginning technicians.

    Got it.

So that idea is a bust.

The MAYOR’S post made me go to EBay to see what you were looking at as a potential service manual. I found THIS listing for $39:

Hobart C-Line e Series Dishwashers Service Manual

See the picture below for a snapshot of that manual (in case the link goes away). Look carefully at the title of the manual…

In an earlier post, the model number you’d asked about was for models CRS66AW or a CRS66A. THOSE machines are from the C-Line A series of machines.

That manual on eBay is for the C-Line e (or Cle) series of dish machines.

Those two series of machines are COMPLETELY different from one another.

Off the top of my head, their ONLY similarity is they both might possibly use the same float switches/sensors. OTHERWISE…their systems are different.  Their controls are different.  Their cabinets are different.  They each might as well have been made by different manufacturers.

If you already knew this and were simply asking for info on a different machine, then…never mind.

If you are INDEED confused about their differences, then let me know. I’ll put something together to compare their differences so you won’t get them confused again.

yea, if you could put something together that would be great.

I am trying to get me head around these machines and what the similarities, differences, and what are identical.

Also if you could include what the numbers mean that would be great. I haven’t a clue and I am sure I am not the only one.

I emailed Hobart and they provided me with a service manual for my machine.

    Pretty cool.

      REALLY!?!?

I knew they were beginning to openly publish service manuals, but I did NOT know they’d email them to you (or ME?).

I guess that new Consumer Right to Repair Law is opening up some doors.

      https://repair.org/legislation

I’m gonna get with my boss about this tomorrow.  We have a HUGE collection of Hobart dish machines that we need service manuals for.

Thanks, but no.  We outgrew those C-Line A units a few years back.

With the exception of a REALLY OLD (prolly over forty-years old?) electric, manually-filled C-Line machine  at our golf course, all of our other conveyor machines are the much newer CLe or CLeN series machines…which are steam-heated (simple stuff).

We also have eight, steam-heated FT900 flight machines.  All of a sudden, I am now  “chompin’ at the bit” to get my hands on THEIR service manuals….just so we HAVE them.  The prospects of having issues with the VFDs in them has always haunted me.
