I haven't used a battery converter to use Milwaukee batteries with Ryobi but I do have one for Makita batteries. I absolutely love it. It feels like my Ryobi tools have more power with my 5ah Makita batteries. My dad uses DeWalt batteries with his Ryobi tools, which uses the same adapter as Milwaukee batteries (yes I said that correctly, they sell adapters that can use both DeWalt and Milwaukee batteries) and he has used and abused his adapter at work for a year or two now.
