I pretty sure i know the answer to my question but..
so i have a norlake pizza table r134 that is not cooling. Right out the gate i know the pressures are not right but low side while running 40-45 high side 80-85 if i shut the unit off they rase 5 psion both high and low side if i remove or add ref they stay about the same but seems like adding is only a tiny bit then just seeems to just sit there. It got to be bent valves that are still compressing a little bit but not much or they would be equal correct?

Not knowing what type of metering this table has, I can’t provide a accurate answer. Most Prep tables are less than 1/2 HP (6000 BTU) and commonly use cap tube metering. So when the compressor is off, both high and low will equalize. Makes for easy starting. Pressures will relate directly to temperatures. Low side to box temp, high side to ambient temp. When under load, the high side should be about 15 degrees F above ambient going into the condenser and very close to ambient coming out. The condenser inlet side temp should be easy to convert to a pressure you are looking for. The values you gave for the high side sound way low. So, either its very cold where you are, or the system is low on charge. Unless the compressor was liquid slugged and at some time and broke the valves inside. I’m surprised that there are taps on that unit. They are required to be sealed these days. And the only tap is supposed to be done on the process tube. (Low side) Which is then brazed shut again after work.

If you’re running 45 low side and 85 high, you’ve got a bad compressor. Bad valves. If your compressor is off w those pressures,(maybe it didn’t start, check amp draw) it may be having trouble equalizing, or maybe it’s colder still inside the box.
