Hello,
I am having an issue with a Rational SCC WE 102G. When starting the unit up it doesnot go to the home screen, it goes to a setting for french fries.You can hit the back arrow button and get it to go to the main menu and everything works fine.This is what i was told by Rational direct.
The WE series of units, uses a Resistive touch pad to start programs or Steam mode. The overlay may be damaged allowing it to continuously touch the display starting it.If not moisture could be getting onto the touch pad as well, doing same thing.Lastly would be touch pad display pcb and the MMI card above it that reads the values.
I do not see any issues with the overlay nor is the signs of water damage.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a communication or memory error. Try depowering the machine, then unplugging both ends of the communication cable from the touch pad and control board. Inspect them, then replug and repower.
