Is it tripping the overload?

I would suspect the start relay, capacitor, or an open winding connection.

Thanks Bear. It is not tripping the overload. I suspected the start relay but haven’t had time to investigate. For whatever it’s worth, the capacitor passes visible inspection.

Don’t consider looks as a check for a start capacitor. A true capacitor tester is the only accurate test. However, some quality DVOM’s have a crude capacitance test function. While you have it open, make sure to ohm the windings. Start/common will be about 1/2 of run. Start/run should equal sum of both.
