Star Panini PST14d
Received a call for Star PST14d. Customer states that when they leave the top plates up it works fine but when they leave it closed rely keeps blinking and the temp is not up to the standard. Any Suggestions?

Several questions on this. Is it a single or split lid? Voltage? Electronic or digital timer? Are they using the power switch correctly? Up is both top and bottom plates. Center is off, and down is just the bottom plate. I would check the RTD’s in the top to be in spec. The tops going up and down tend to make wires break over time.

Check the upper probes for an intermittent break in the wires by checking probe resistance while opening and closing the upper platens. It will show up as a large swing in probe resistance.
