I use 1/2 and 3/8 inch hoses connected to appion core removal tools on the system then straight to a yellow jacket vacuum manifold on a 6cfm pump. Nylog all fittings and a field piece svg3 micron gauge.

I like a 4 valve manifold like Yellow Jackets Brute and Brute II with 1/2 inch vacuum line and a 6 CFM Pump.  That way I can recover and go to vacuum without opening anything or having cross contamination. Richie vacuum gauge on the pump tee.

Nice, so many still pull through a manifold, I avoid the manifold because of conductance rate and leak points. I avoid at all cost putting refrigerant through my vacuum hoses because the Poe oil in the refrigerant is hygroscopic, last thing I want is a layer of moisture absorbing oil lining the hose walls. Way I avoid the system from getting moisture is recover, then purge with nitrogen and start my vacuum with a slight nitrogen pressure.
