HVAC is always in need of installation, maintenance and troubleshooting, which is why technicians are essential to keep equipment running smoothly. Below we’ll help you with Aaon rooftop unit maintenance, allowing you to keep equipment in prime condition.
The following guide can be used for Aaon rooftop units like the RZ and RQ series.
Aaon Rooftop Unit Maintenance
Air Filters & Airflow Components
- Inspect filters at least monthly after startup and during peak seasons.
- Replace or clean filters when pressure drop exceeds project limits or visible loading is present.Â
- Ensure proper filter orientation and sealing to prevent bypass air.Â
- Inspect fan wheels for dirt buildup, damage, or imbalance.
- Verify fan set screws and mounting hardware are tight.Â
- Check belts (if equipped) for wear, cracking and proper tension.
Evaporator & Condenser Coils
- Inspect coils for dirt, debris, or biological growth.
- Clean coils using non‑acidic cleaners compatible with aluminum or optional coil coatings.
- Avoid high‑pressure washing that may flatten fins or damage coatings.
- Inspect coil fins straightness and repair as needed to maintain airflow.
Condensate Drain System
- Inspect drain lines and traps for blockage, algae buildup, or leaks.
- Confirm traps are properly primed to prevent air bypass.
- Clean drain pans to prevent overflowing.
Electrical System & Controls
- Inspect all electrical connections for tightness, corrosion, or overheating.
- Verify contactors, relays, and terminal strips are secure and operating correctly.
- Check control voltage and confirm it meets minimum requirements under load.
