How to Install an Ames 2000b Double Check Valve Assembly

Make sure to install the 2000b unit in an easily accessible area for testing and servicing.

  • Step 1 – Before starting any installation, make sure to check local codes for any requirements.
  • Step 2 – Turn off the system and depressurize the pipe where you'll install the unit.
  • Step 3 – Thoroughly flush the lines to remove any foreign material from them.
  • Step 4 – Install a strainer to help prevent the disc from fouling, unless the backflow preventer is used for emergency/unused water lines like fire sprinkler lines.
  • Step 5 – Install the valve so that the flow arrow is pointing in the direction of the water flow.
  • Step 6 – Install shut-off valves on the inlet and outlet ends.
  • Step 7 – Connect the test cocks for testing the assembly.

  • Step 9 – Test the valve assembly and check for leaks or malfunctions.
