Base Assembly

  • Step 1. Attach rear panels – Align the two rear panels and attach them together with a bolt, washer and nut.
  • Step 2. Secure bottom stiffener – Attach the base bottom stiffener to the bottom of the two rear panels and secure them with a bolt, washer and nut.
  • Step 3. Attach base panels – Align the right and left sides of the base to the rear panel and secure them with a bolt, washer and nut.
  • Step 4. Secure brackets – Align the rear corner brackets and secure them with a bolt, washer and nut.
  • Step 5. Install legs – Install the adjustable legs and secure them with a bolt.
  • Step 6. Secure base deflectors – Insert the two base deflectors into place and secure them with screws.
  • Step 7. Level legs – Using a level, adjust the legs until the unit is level.
  • Step 8. Remove hood assembly panels – Remove the hood assembly side panels before attaching to the base assembly.
  • Step 9. Apply sealant – Once the hood is lowered, apply a bead of RTV Sealant with a temperature rating of 375°F on the base, between it and the hood. Don’t allow a film to form on the bead before lowering the hood down on the base. If a film forms, remove the bead and reapply a new bead.
  • Step 10. Lower hood onto base – Using the upper supporting brackets on the hood, align the mounting holes and lower the hood on top of the base. Secure these in place with a bolt, washer and nut.
  • Step 11. Service system – At this point, the electrical installation and fire suppression system installation should be performed. Once completed you can move onto step 12.
  • Step 12. Install side panels – Install the side panels with the remaining hardware.

Electrical Installation

  • Step 1. Verify requirements – Check the nameplate for the electrical service power, voltage and phase specifications and available electrical service amperage.
  • Step 2. Access terminal block – Open the front access panel to access the terminal block and building alarm relay.
  • Step 3. Remove knockout and wire circuit – Remove the appropriate knockout, then wire the cooking appliance control circuit to the terminal block. Check the wiring diagram for the correct connections and wire gauge requirements.
  • Step 4. Install building alarm (as needed) – If the installation includes a building alarm system, connect to terminals T7 & T8 of the terminal block in the supply connection box.

Inserting Filters and Grease Cup

  • Step 1. Remove old filter – Remove the old filter pack and slide the new filter pack into the slot.
  • Step 2. Verify airflow direction – Verify that the airflow arrow points toward the fan.
  • Step 3. Insert baffle filter – Insert the baffle filter from the front.
  • Step 4. Engage baffle filter – Engage the baffle filter in the retainer slot. Push up until the baffle filter bottom clears the lower lip of the retainer, then lower the baffle filter into the bottom retainer.
  • Step 5. Insert grease cup – Install the grease cup into the brackets below the baffle filter.
