Cooling Inspection Checklist for Trane Rooftop HVAC Units

Cooling inspections are just what units need to check that they’re ready to handle cooling in the warm season. Below you can find a cooling inspection checklist for Trane rooftop HVAC units, that way you can ensure it’s ready for keeping temperatures optimal. Follow along with our video guide or just glance at the steps we have, so you can ensure that the unit will handle a heatwave.

Inspection Checklist

  • Step 1 – Check the surroundings and make sure there’s no debris around.
  • Step 2 – Remove power from the unit before starting any maintenance. This is essential to prevent accidents or injury.
  • Step 3 – Remove the panels to access the interior of the unit.
  • Step 4 – Inside the panel, check the top portion of wires. Make sure they’re all tight and not melting/burning.
  • Step 5 – Add power back through the unit.
  • Step 6 – Since this unit has a testing function, place your jumpers onto the testing component to get the unit into cooling mode.
  • Step 7 – Test both of the contactors, then move onto testing the transformer.
  • Step 8 – After testing the electrical components, move onto the refrigeration circuit. Check for any leaks in the condensing coil.
  • Step 9 – If this is your first time working on this unit, gauge up and get a good pressure to check that it’s working efficiently. If you notice any issues, document these for further troubleshooting. If this isn’t your first time working on the unit, check the temperatures and ambient temperature.
  • Step 10 – Remove your jumpers from the unit, then close the unit up.
