How to Remove a Pitco Fryer Drain Manifold

Some parts of equipment are easier to take apart than others. Fryers can often become very difficult due to the oil. Rather than struggling through, this guide will help walk you through how to remove a Pitco fryer drain manifold so you can get on with your repair.

This guide is applicable to most Pitco fryer models, such as three vat models like ME14, SFSG18, MG14, SGH50 and AG14S.

Removing the Drain Manifold

Before starting any service work, make sure the fryer is powered off, completely cool and fully drained of oil.

  • Step 1. Loosen the bolts – Loosen the bolts mounting the section of the drain manifold you need to remove. They may be difficult to loosen due to grease buildup.
  • Step 2. Loosen the union – There should be a union that is threading onto two parts of the manifold. You can use a pipe wrench to loosen it.
  • Step 3. Loosen the drain sleeve – Loosen the screw securing the sleeve on the manifold. This will loosen the sleeve and gasket securing the drain manifold.
    • Note: Be careful not to tear or damage the gasket.
  • Step 4. Loosen the manifold – Work the drain manifold to loosen it from the sleeve, union or present grease buildup. If you are removing a middle section, it can help to remove one end during this step. This would be done by simply removing the bolts securing it.

Reinstalling the Drain Manifold

After completing service or replacement, reinstall the drain manifold by reversing the removal steps. Make sure all connections are properly aligned and tightened before putting it back in service.
