Frymaster Electric Deep Fryer Temperature Probe Replacement

Temperature probes are an essential part of fryers, keeping them safe from unregulated temps. Below we will help you handle a Frymaster electric deep fryer temperature probe replacement, from draining to securing the loose wires. That way the fryer can function without being a risk or malfunctioning.Â
How to Replace a Deep Fryer Temperature Probe
- Step 1 – Remove the filter pan and lid from the unit.
- Step 2 – Drain the frypots into a shortening disposal unit (SDU) or other appropriate metal container.
- Step 3 – Disconnect the fryer from any power source, then reposition it to access the rear.
- Step 4 – Remove the 4 screws from both sides of the lower back panel, then remove the 2 screws on both the left and right sides of the back of the tilt housing.
- Step 5 – Lift the tilt housing straight up to remove it from the fryer.
- Step 6 – Find the red and white wires of the old temperature probe, making sure to note where the leads are connected. Unplug the 12-pin connector C-6 and use a pin-pusher to push the pins of the temperature probe out of the connector.
- Step 7 – Raise the element and remove the securing probe bracket and metal tie wraps that secure the probe to the element.
- Step 8 – Gently pull the probe and grommet, pulling the wires up the rear of the fryer and through the element tube assembly.
- Step 9 – Insert the new temperature probe wires first into the tube assembly, ensuring that the grommet is in place. Use the bracket and metal tie wraps to secure the probe to the elements.
- Step 10 – Route the probe wires out of the tube assembly, following the element wires down the back of the fryer through the Heyco bushings to the 12-pin connector C-6. Use wire ties to secure the wires to the sheathings.
- Step 11 – Insert the temperature probe leads into the 12-pin connector C-6. For full-vat units or the right half of a dual-vat unit (as viewed from the rear), the red lead goes into position 3 and the white lead into position 4 of the connector. For the left half of a dual-vat unit, the red lead goes into position 9 and the white lead into position 10.
- Step 12 – Use wire ties to secure any loose wires. Make sure that the lead wires won’t interfere with the movement of the springs. Rotate the elements up and down to check that movement isn’t restricted and wires aren’t pinched.
- Step 13 – Reinstall the tilt housing and back panels and reposition the fryer under the exhaust hood. Connect the fryer back to power.
