How to Test Gas Pressure on a Trane Rooftop Unit
Step 1. Shut off the gas – At the gas valve on the unit, turn it off to shut off the gas supply to the unit.
Step 2. Crack open the nut – Using an allen key, give a quarter turn to the screw to crack it open. Then you can attach your manometer tube to it.
Note: Don’t pull out the screw.
Step 3. Measure gas pressure – Zero out the manometer and turn on the outgoing gas. Verify the PSI matches what the data plate suggests. Once you get your reading, turn the gas back off, remove the manometer tube and retighten the screw.
Step 4. Measure inches of water column – Using an allen key, give a quarter turn to the screw to crack it open. Then you can attach your manometer tube to it. Zero out the manometer and turn on the gas. Wait for the unit to run before checking your inches of water column. Make sure this also matches the data plate
