How to Check Static Pressure on a Trane Rooftop Unit
bytechtown
Performing diagnostics on HVAC equipment requires some key tests to be performed. That way you can get to the bottom of what’s causing the issue and how to fix it. This guide will walk you through how to check static pressure on a Trane rooftop unit so you can ensure values are where they should be.
Measuring Static Pressure on a Trane RTU
Step 1. Drill holes – Drill a hole into the return and supply panel. This is where the probe will be inserted. The hole doesn’t need to be large.
Step 2. Insert the probes – The probes have arrows to help indicate how to insert them into the holes so they match the direction of airflow.Â
Step 3. Connect the manometer- Once probes are in position, connect your manometer tubes from the manometer to the barb of the probes.Â
Step 4. Measure static pressure – With the unit off, turn on and zero out your manometer. Then turn the unit on and read the values from each side of the manometer. Then add them together to get your internal static pressure. Then compare it with acceptable values from the data plate.Â
