Fan Coil Condensate Troubleshooting
The key indicator of a condensate issue will be condensate present in the drain pan. Here are the common causes and solutions for that:
- Condensate drain is clogged – You need to clear the blockage from the drain. Depending on the model, there will be a solid pipe you can lift to access the drain or it will have a triangle shaped hole at the bottom of it. With the pipe lifted or via the hole, you can put a fish or snake into the drain to clear any clogs.Â
- Condensate float switch has failed or stuck engaged – Check the float switch to see if it’s operating. It’s located at the bottom of the unit. Once you locate it, you can check if it moves freely and audibly clicks when you move it to let you know the microswitch is operating. If it isn’t clicking or moving freely, replace the float switch.
