How to Perform Manual Defrost on a Refrigerated Solutions Group LogiTemp Plus Controller

Defrosting refrigeration equipment can be vital for maintenance and repairs. So if you’ve been called to manually get the process started but aren’t familiar with the controller you’ve come to the right place. This guide on how to perform manual defrost on a Refrigerated Solutions Group LogiTemp Plus Controller can walk you through the process.

This guide is applicable to controllers frequently present on both Norlake and Master-Bilt walk-in coolers and freezers.

Manually Defrosting a Walk-In Using LogiTemp Plus Controllers

  • Step 1. Press and hold controller buttons – Press and hold the ENTER and down arrow button for a couple seconds. The screen will then change to read dEF.
  • Step 2. System will shut down – Next the unit will shut down. Then shortly after the evaporator fan motor will turn off and the reversing valve will engage and switch into defrost mode.
  • Step 3. Unit will come back on – After a short delay, the system will come back on to defrost the system.
    • Note: Reverse cycle defrost only takes a matter of seconds.
  • Step 4. Drain mode activates – Once termination temperature is reached, the system will turn off again and the drain time will start. The screen will read drn at this time. This allows all water to finish dripping off the coiling so it can be drained.
  • Step 5. Refreeze remaining moisture – The fan delay will cause the system to come back on and refreeze any remaining moisture on the coil. Then the system should go back into refrigeration mode and the manual defrost is finished.Â
