Ensuring your customers HVAC equipment is working for the varying heating and cooling seasons sometimes requires modifications. Specifically, once you have replaced the damper motor in a fan coil unit, the linkage needs to be adjusted. This guide will show you how to adjust The Whalen Company fan coil damper so you can finish your repair.
The Whalen Company Fan Coil Damper Linkage Adjustment
There are two locations where the damper linkage needs to be adjusted to ensure the damper blade opens and closes properly after a damper motor replacement.
Step 1. Adjust the top link – At the top of the blade is the first link that needs adjusting. Have the damper motor pinned in the open position. Then take the damper linkage threaded rod and slide it through the nuts and lock washers. Then pin the damper blade into the closed position and tighten the nuts in the linkage to adjust until the right tightness is achieved.Â
Step 2. Adjust the bypass blade linkage – Toward the bottom is the linkage for the bypass blade of the damper. Adjust it so the blade is open. Then tighten all of the keeper nuts to finish adjusting.
Step 3. Test the unit – Let the unit cycle several times. This is to be sure the face and bypass dampers closes all the way. If you notice they don’t repeat steps 1-3 until you achieve the right results.
