Ice-O-Matic CIM Error Code 1
This code is a maximum-length freeze cycle. This indicates an hour-long freeze cycle followed by a harvest of less than 5.5 or 7 minutes, depending on the unit control board.
- Appearance – This code is signaled by a twice-per-second flash or once-per-half-second flash of the light on the control board and the front of the unit.
- Possible causes:
- Condenser fan motorÂ
- Compressor issue
- Water inlet valve allowing too much water into the water trough
- Dirty condenser, evaporator or float switch
Ice-O-Matic CIM Error Code 2
This code indicates a maximum length harvest cycle. This means the machine didn’t drop ice within 7 minutes.
- Appearance – This code is signaled by a heartbeat-style light flash on the control board at the front of the unit.
- Possible causes:
- Gas valve or curtain switch isn’t opening
- Relay or gas valve is stuck open
Ice-O-Matic CIM Error Code 3
Error code 3 means the ice machine took an hour to make a batch of ice and 7 minutes to harvest it.
- Appearance – This code is signaled by a triple red flashing light on the front of the machine and on the control board.
- Possible causes:
- Compressor, water pump or condenser fan motor failure
- Control board or relay issue
- Harvest assist is leaking

Ice-O-Matic CIM Error Code 4
This code is an indicator that the thermistor has failed.
- Appearance – This code is signaled by a once-per-second light flash on the front of the ice machine and at the control board.
- Possible causes:
- Failed thermistor that needs to be replaced
Ice-O-Matic CIM Error Code 5
The Ice-O-Matic error code 5 is for a maximum length fill cycle. This means the unit took 5 or more minutes to fill.
- Appearance – This code is signaled by two flashing lights on the front of the unit and the control board.
- Possible causes:
- Clogged water filter
- Water inlet valve isn’t filling with water
- Water to the unit is turned off
- Float switch issue
Ice-O-Matic CIM Error Code 6
This code indicates a maximum length purge cycle. This code can typically be seen during a cleaning mode. It can also occur during a freeze or if the machine is turned off and experiences an issue. When this occurs, the machine will try to purge for 2 minutes and then shut off for 10 minutes. It will continue to retry until the machine purges.
- Appearance – This code is signaled by a heartbeat flashing red and yellow light on the front of the unit and the control board.
- Possible causes:
- Water pump or purge valve failureÂ
- Float switch issue
Ice-O-Matic CIM Error Code 7
Error code 7 means the unit was looking for the float switch to open within 15 seconds of the water pump turning on. If that doesn’t happen, it will repeat itself 3 times.
- Appearance – This code is signaled by a two blink-per-second red and yellow light.
- Possible causes:
- Float switch issue
- Leaking water inlet valve
- High water pressure
- Electrical connection issue
