Merrychef e4s High Voltage Magnetron Test
bytechtown
The magnetron is an essential component in speed ovens and microwaves. If the unit isn’t operating and you suspect that part is the cause, you’ll need to make sure by performing some diagnostics. This guide on how to perform a Merrychef e4s high voltage magnetron test, can help you get to the bottom of what’s wrong with the oven.
To perform this test, you’ll need a megger or megohmmeter.
High Voltage Magnetron Testing
- Step 1. Ensure the unit is completely disconnected from the electrical supply and wait for the unit to cool down.Â
- Step 2. Remove the oven casing to access the high voltage magnetron.
- Step 3. Verify that the high voltage capacitor is discharged before beginning testing.Â
- Step 4. Remove all connections from the high voltage magnetron.
- Step 5. Check for continuity of the magnetron by using a megger. You’re going to use your megger to check the filament terminals, between each filament terminal and the metal outer casing.
Results
When doing this test, you want to achieve specific results to ensure everything is operating as it should. Here are the desired results for this test:
- Filament terminals: Pass if 1 Ω or less.
- Between each filament terminal and the metal outer case: Pass if it reads open.
If you do not get these results, there could be an issue present with the magnetron.
