We have a True Model T-49 Refrig unit and the drain hose is stopped up. We have tried to blow it out and suck it out but have had no luck. How do you get to the hose? It looks like we may be able to take the back cover off, seems like some screws on the bottom of back cover? Or is there a way to take the inside cover off? Thank You.

Put the screwdriver DOWN!  You won’t be able to get to it…from inside or out.  It’s merely a hose that runs from up there to down there.  There’s no in-between.

Try a wet-vac down below, with a good seal.  Then, some really hot water poured from above.  If you can get ANY flow whatsoever, then keep at it for awhile to flush it out really good.

Another option is to get you some finely-stranded 14 or guage insulated wire and try to work it from above or below to bust through the blockage.

Blowing it out with CO2 or nitrogen?  Unless your have a suitable pressure regulator, I’m apprehensive about suggesting that.

Getting to the drain is on the bottom behind the condenser unit. It is fastened with a loop for a insect trap and goes into a drain pan with felt wicks to evaporate the condensate. The hose is also pushed on a nipple at the lowest point in the rear of the drain pan. Wet vac works the best from the bottom. Pressure from either end makes a big mess unless contained at the opposite end and even then sprays..

If you un-clamp the lower line to straighten out the twist to vacuum, they usually clear easy..  Most blockages are in the trap region, unless there has been a lot of cardboard boxes in and out.. Also goes for burlap bags. They will plug up a evaporator in a month, and the drains as well.
