Home Forums I have a cleveland steamer, mod. 36cgm16300.  the problem is after igniting and almost up to temp, the ele pilot starts to spark, even though there is a flame there.  after the spark cycles 3 times it all shuts down.     we have replaced with new parts, t

Is the pilot flame staying steady on the flame sensing rod when the burner comes on, or is the main burner effecting it? Is the chimney (exhaust) area clean and un-obstructed?

Check your water probes as per the service manual. If the high water probe is shorted, the delay time may be your problem.

How long before it starts refire sequence from original fire ignition?

You say you added a grounding wire to the pilot.  Did you run it to the burner ground terminal on the ignition control?  When there is flame you should have 1.5 milliamps of DC current flow on it.  Is this a 2 stage gas valve or single. Electronic or manual timer? 3 or 4 probe water sensing?  Is ignition soft or with a Vroom?

And you didn’t mention if you replaced the ingition cable. 24 volt AC is superimposed over the high voltage probe constantly so that the flame can rectify it to DC for sensing.  Why it is important to measure burner ground current flow before changing parts.  You can ohm the cable. and ground curcuits
