I would contact Federal on the best way to remove those. In most cases they use the ram tool to both install and remove the ram. See below for a picture.

How did you discern what OP was asking?

This is an issue that comes up on some merchandisers. The gas rams are always a pain to install and remove because they are under constant pressure.

Federal has no SER units that I can find. I have no idea of what type  case this is, but we do know it has glass front lift door with gas assist. cylinders. .

It may be a older Hussman.. found some model’s close but not exact. Can’t prove it anymore as Hussman closed down there plant in Gloversville a few years ago. Miss going in the back door to get parts or knowledge.
