Bear Varimixer rewire from 230V to 400V
Posted by coffeegeek on December 21, 2019 at 10:43 amHello!
I have a Bear Varimixer AR60/MK1 from 2007. Is has a Motor 1.9 kW / 8.4 Amp and is currently wired at 230V 3 phase.
Can this be rewired to take 400V 3 phase?

This one again depends on the voltage. 440 or 480 is common in the US. 380 in Europe and 580 in Canada. Depending on the motor, it might be able to be rewired on the inputs, but you’ll have to revamp the control.
BTW, 208 is the common 3 phase voltage unless you have a delta system. Then you may have 230V If you have a delta system, you have to watch out for the wild let as it will be 380V to nuetral. not 230. They should always be marked with orange.

Just so you are aware, we have ER’s and W’s here instead or the AR. And the normal voltage for the AR is 400V. But they also made them with several motor options from 2HP to 4 HP. Horsepower is a US and British thing. KW is the rest of the world

After Googling some general motor rewiring, seems the motor itself will be easy to rewire. And the control probably picks up one phase, and converts it down to 24V or 12V.

That depends on how many leads the motor has.

Once I have it open I’ll check and get back.

You don’t happen to have the service manual for the AR60? Or any other one (I guess many of them are quite similar)?
