Cheap tools vs quality tools

With meters I would never use a cheap meter on site, a long time ago I was with another tech who used a cheap meter and watched in horror as it exploded in his hand as he was testing on a 3 phase isolator, burnt into his hand and left him without full use & scarred for life. Cheap tools can be a bad choice but a couple of years ago I forgot my 1/4 drive socket set and needed it on a job I was at. I went to a local Lidl shop (UK) & bought a cheap set for £12, did the job well and still serves me well on at least a weekly & sometimes daily basis.
