  • deciding between mini-splits, r32 or r134a

Posted by Anonymous on September 23, 2023 at 9:07 pm

Hi, We’re a young family just getting started and we’re trying to decide between two different mini-split heat pump systems for our home. One system uses r32 and another has r134a. Is there any outstanding reason to go with one over the other? We have noticed that we do not find r32 for sale pretty much any place we’ve looked; and that is bothersome & curious. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

R32 is a new one on me. R134 is on it’s way out. It also is not one designed for AC. R32 is specifically made for AC and replaces R410 and the old R22. It is the newest of AC refrigerants and has the lowest environmental impact.

Thanks for your reply. I did make an error in my question. It should have been the R410 not the R134… Sorry about that.

Incidently, I realized my error about 5 minutes after hitting POST button… But I didn’t see a way to Edit my question. It didn’t occur to me to try the Reply button.
