I have an indigo machine. I noticed a few months ago it would not let you clear any error codes. The machine works fine so no worries. Recently the machine still working fine, I go to clean the machine and the key pad doesn’t allow me to turn the machine off. I unplugged it and reset it. Still nothing goes straight to making ice. Do you think this is a key pad issue or main board problem. How can you determine which?

    Thanks,
    Steve

You’ve given us partial information to solving this.

Model#, Error codes would help a lot. Year and last cleaning helps as well.

90% of ice machine problems are due to lack of cleaning or improper cleaning. 2% from improper install, commissioning. I don’t know how long it’s been in service, but it sounds like several years may be a possibility. The trouble codes that were displayed before depower are to help narrow down problems and prevent downtime. Did you have any hard alarms that shut the machine down? They fall in two groups, Harvest or icemaking. Now if you had certain codes, the machine would have operated in a safe mode from it’s history parameters for a period of time. Varies on he code and environmental conditions to how long it will run. But on depower and repower, You should still see the welcome screen, then any alerts, then any messages. The left arrow in the quad pad should always back up to a higher level. If the pad is working, 5 quick right pushes will make a forced exit from any function the machine is in.

Try going to page 163 in this manual :MAN-Indigo_sm.pdf (partstown.com) and follow the testing directions.

Being the touch pad seems to be not working, It will most likely be the cable and connectors from the control board to the touchpad. Depower the machine, open the front and control covers, there is a gray cable with black plugs that goes from the board to the touchpad. Unplug them, inspect for corrosion, and replug them. Careful not to break the plug locks. Repower the machine and watch the screen and heartbeat LED on the control board. Let me know what you see.
