May not be anything to do with delayed ignition but I do suggest checking the burners, if they are a dull gray color and not shiny, Pitco recommends replacement. I’ve never caught it happening but they say it’s to combustion within the burner.

Some of those test themselves 3 times before staying lit , maybe there’s an issue during the self test. But definitely sounds like a gas build up. We had one that would blow the door open on ignition the first time. Turned out to be gas pressure.

Ive chased this problem before. Ended up replacing all the burners with new even though the old ones visuay looked ok.

The self cleaning burner usually pops (more like a dull thud) twice in a row on first start up. Some times those flame rails fail and get holes in them.

Check to see if the screens are separating on the burners and that the flame guides in between the outside burners are still there (that is how the outside ones light)

But other than the basics like pressure, cleared orifaces and blast tubes/flue are too, it’s usually the burners themselves.

One this burner design, one has to look very carefully at the prongs and screen behind them. The area ahead of the screen has to be clean and free of any forien material. The screen must be even , clean, and not have any wires bent or moved sideways. A small gap will allow the flame to get back to the mixing chamber. There by burning inside the burner like Best said. Do not poke anything into the screen. A soft brush like a tooth brush and soap and water will work. Do not use High pressure.
