The domestic production of Silicone’s in the US has been in Waterford. NY since 1947 when GE discovered it’s use. Ge sold the plant a few years ago to Monumentive materials mainly due to environmental law changes and low profit. They have determined today that they are leaving consumer products to serve the micro chip industry. So all the sealants we use for installation and repair are about to change. GE silicones have been the standard for sealants. And contact lenses. I’m not sure how this is going to shake out yet, but be aware to watch the quality of what you buy. It will change.
