Split Pin Replacement on Auger Shaft – Punch Recommendation
Hi all, I am currently rebuilding a shaft and have to punch out a split pin in order to install new torsion springs. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on a set of punches or tool to use. I was looking at some gun smith tool sets possibly. But any recommendations on technique and/or tools would be appreciated.

They make special punches for them. McMaster-Carr or Manhattan supply (MSC) are good sources. They have a dimple in the center and a cupped groove around the edge. For both roll pin and split pin or spring pin.
