Home Forums my true freezer never gets below 0 degrees and if you open the cabinet door the temp shoots right up and it takes 45 minutes or more to get back to at least 10 degrees.checked the defrost cycle amps are 8.0 and when connected to the pink wire the amps cut

    You said you have 8amps in defrost, what are the compressor amps in refrigeration, that will give a better idea if you have a refrigeration issue or otherwise.

    Do you have a stationary thermometer inside on a shelf?  If not, you should definitely put one inside; temp gauges on outside are not the most reliable.

    Another thing to consider is, how hot is the area the freezer is in?  I would say clean the condenser coil if you didn’t already, it will lead to slow recovery if it is clogged or if the ambient is 85degrees or above.  Last quick thing to check is, how many doors is your unit; door switches are a common issue on stand up units, won’t allow the evap fans to run, open each door and push up on the switch to make sure the fans start (Do this when the box is cold)
