    Maintaining blade sharpness.  And correct sharpening technique.  One does the sharpening top the back side only. The top side stone is for just a brief De-burring at Finnish.  Also blades have to be cleaned before stoning to prevent ruining the stones.  If they plug up with grease/oil they no longer will cut, but just rub. That will not produce the grind marks that help it to cut easy.

    Had it happen with the thickness adjustment gear, somehow a set screw got loose, knocked it out by 1MM on the side, but it was noticed.
