The serial number plate on the machine is required to have the refrigerant type and amount as well as electrical ratings. If it is real old (prior to 1993), it will be R-12 and need to be converted by a licensed refrigeration person..

    ANYONE could ask:

“I have a Ford automobile.  I don’t know what year or model it is.  It has four doors.  What size tires do I need?”

    SOMEONE’S response:

Well, is it an Escort, a Crown Victoria…or the numerous other models in between?  What year?  What size engine?  Manual or automatic?  Power windows?

Answer those questions and I might have a few more.

If you’ve ever gone to buy parts for a car, you’d be amazed at the questions they’ll ask you.  Unfortunately this is a comparable situation to yours.  Just too many possibilities.

FWIW, I did a little research on the internet:

Older SPM units were distributed by Crathco, which is a product of Grindmaster-Cecilware. Relatively newer SPM units were sold by Cornelius. Otherwise, you could try contacting SPM directly.  They’re in Italy.

So, the links above are some leads I can offer to get your answer.  Since you don’t have ANY data plate in the unit, I suggest taking some pictures of the unit from numerous angles so you can share them with whoever you’re seeking answers from.

Look at the compressor tag. With the model number and brand we can determine the deign refrigerant.  Them check the date code and any aftermarket markings on the compressor and dryer.
