What are the Hoshizaki KM Alarm Beeps & What Do They Mean

Number of BeepsWhat it MeansCauses
One BeepThe evaporator got too hot during harvest– Confirm that the hot gas valve is opening and energized
– Make sure the thermistor isn’t shorted out
– Check that hot water migration isn’t coming to the machine. To speed up testing this, apply Vaseline on the brass fitting where water goes into the machine. After checking everything else, when the alarm goes off again, check the blob of Vaseline. If it melted off, the water coming in might be too hot because of Vaseline’s melting point.
Two BeepsThe machine ran a long harvest two times in a row– Check that the thermistor is reading properly
– Confirm the hot gas valve is energized and refrigerant is flowing through it
– Make sure the TXV and liquid line valve isn’t leaking by
– Check there isn’t an inefficient compressor. There’s two things to look for with this:
– Equalized pressures
– Low amps
– For water-cooled machines, check the water regulator isn’t leaking by
Three BeepsThe unit had a long freeze cycle two times in a row– Check if the float switch is stuck in the closed position
– Make sure the water valve isn’t leaking by
– Verify the hot gas valve isn’t leaking by during the freeze cycle
– Confirm that the pump motor hasn’t stopped running
– Ensure that the TXVs are feeding properly
– Check that the liquid line valve has refrigerant flowing properly
– Check if there’s an inefficient compressor
Six & Seven BeepsThese are the low (6) and high (7) voltage alarms– Confirm that the K2 connector is getting 10.5 volts
– Check the transformer inside the control box has 115 volts going into it and pushing out 10.5
