Looks like the HL662 lacks an interface board, whereas the HL1400 uses one. So…that manual is probably useless to you. The two machines are very different in the control circuit.

Don’t know how I reposted an attachment. I didn’t do that. THIS and my previous reply were brand new replies.

Check for 5 volts DC at the FWD and CM terminals . That’s what tells the VFD to run.

It sounds like you have a cable connection problem from the timer board to the VFD.

thanks! that gives me a starting point .

I can’t remember, some were 24 volt DC. But if you check it at the VFD block for a forward/common DC voltage signal it will prove your wiring harness and connectors.

Also check the interface board connection to the timer board.

no voltage at those terminals . thinking its the timer board now

Now check the forward and common on the interface for DC voltage. Then back to the timer.

Make sure you have SHARP narrow probes for the back of the plug

The timer board is sending a signal, because the contactor is closing. But the interface board to the VFD may not be.

i dont think it has an interface board that i can see? just a timer board

The same applies, check for the signal voltage on the timer board plug cable to the VFD. No DC voltage to the VFD, no run. I haven’t seen one without the small interface board attached to the timer board. But I’m sure that Hobart has probably added it into the timer to save money. One part instead of two.
