We have a ton of Artic Air units in our area and a ton of calls on them. I've serviced them while still on the dealers showroom floor. Mostly refrigerant leaks and wiring issues. Oh did I mention refrigerant leaks?

To totaltech1, yeah we've got a lot. Economy models are being pushed pretty heavy here.

Absolutely agree about replacing the wheel too.  I'll share a trick I learned.  For those wheels that are so stuck that a puller isn't getting it and you need to cut the shaft.  Use a hole saw that's j-u-s-t big enough to fit around the hub.  Remove the centering bit and have at it.  After you're done, all that's left is the wheel hub on the motor shaft and clear access for cutting it.

-sorry… Copy and paste from my phone doesn't give all options.

You know, I've never done that. I cut through the wheel with a long blade and bent it in half to get to the shaft but I'll have to try that! See, it's working already!

Sharp blows while cleaning, or spraying with cold water immediately after draining it hot could shock it with a contraction and damage it. If replacing the probe alone fixed it, we're not looking at the temp control unless moisture is an issue. If sprayed with water and it was present in the controller or molex plugs that could have caused any number of erratic issues including temp and it could have dried out by the time the probe was replaced. These are speculations of course since we have no obvious physical damage…

    “CHEC”

The electrical compartment ambient temperature is above 140° F (60° C). All

heaters will shut off. Check for proper air flow.

The unit is overheating. Check the axial fan, it may be faulty or stopping. Part # 4000202

What are your pressures? This unit I believe is a 134-A cap tube system. If this unit has run hot from a clogged condenser coil for a period of time you could have a partially restricted cap tube. Very common on 134-A systems. Your efficiency will be affected. It is most likely reaching a certain temp and not dropping any lower. During heavy traffic use of the box with doors being opened constantly, it will struggle to recover and actually go up in temp. Replace it with the OEM cap tube. Make sure the condenser coil is really clean internally, not just brushed. Check with a flashlight to see if light passes through easily. Worn valves, if system is fully charged check RLA on the compressor. Non condensables in the system are also possible. Recover system, pull a full 500 micron vacuum and recharge per data plate. If it is a partial restriction you won't have much heat transfer. I have limited info on your friends unit here but if its running and not efficient, these things in my experience will be likely at fault.

I'm not familiar with nor can I find any documentation that breaks down the serial number for Nieco units. Best advice would be to call their technical support department @ 707-284-7100 and they should be able to pull it up.

When the conveyor is put in place, locate the two 3/32″ allen screws below the conveyor on each side. Adjusting these screws can raise or lower the conveyor to increase or decrease the clearance between the gears. The screws will also level it out so that the gears are not tilted to one side and even contact with the teeth is established. If you need documentation follow this link… http://www.princecastle.com/pdf/manuals/297revC.pdf

    Hope this helps.
